| Why compact + repair databases? |
Microsoft says:
To ensure optimal performance, you should compact and repair your Microsoft Access files on a regular basis. Also, if a serious problem occurs while you are working in an Access file and Access attempts to recover it, you might receive a message that the repair operation was cancelled and that you should compact and repair the file.

add database |
To add databases to the main database list, simply open the add database dialog and choose a local or network path. MDBC only gives you manageable files such as *.mdb, *.mde, *.adp, *.mda and *.mdw files. |
| You can either select a single or multiple databases, or add all databases in the current directory by clicking on the select all button. |

The load / save list file option allowes you to manage multiple list files (*.lst). |

The actual status of each database ist represented by a small 'light' on the left of the list.

The status is getting refreshed every 10 seconds.
A right-click on any entry in the main list opens a context menue:
- compress (single db)
- set password
- delete db from list
- show users (if the db is currently in use)
- open db with MS Access

configure backup |
The backup function ensures the safety of your databases and is strongly recommended.
Just choose a directory for the backup files, and
each run of MDBC will create uncompressed copies of databases. |
Older backups of the same database will be overwritten. The backup files can be restored by renaming f.ex. sample.mdb.bak to sample.mdb.
While the backup function nearly doubles the disk capacity needed, please ensure that there is enough free space on your drive left. |

The autorun schedule is able to automatically start the compression and backup of an actual or saved database list.
The start time can be set separately for each day of the week, so that productive databases can be cleaned and secured overnite. |
| MDBC can be minimized to the system try and will work in background. |
| With a right-click on the key symbol you can either show or close MDBC or start the compression process immediadly. |

For some databases are protected, it´s necessary for MDBC to know the password.
Set password allowes you to
set, change or clear the password for each database. For security reasons the password itself is represented by '*' and stored encoded. |

The main window with its database list contains all information about your databases:

- compressed size (MB)
- compression ratio (%)

The log is sorted by date and includes detailed information about compression time, database size before and after compression and the status of your databases.

MDBC database compressor is available in two versions:
- the free version is fully functional, but limited to a maximum of 6 databases
- the full version can be unlocked for 35$
